McOil - All Our Hopes (1979)

OK let's try this one again - I posted this a couple weeks ago then found out there were some synch errors, so I deleted the post - this one is OK, and at a higher bitrate even! Anyway, this is some nice psych/prog/hard rock from southern Germany with lots of keyboards and great guitar riffs and a gruff-voiced singer. Very solid.

Missus Beastly - Missus Beastly (1974)

The second self-titled album from Missus Beastly, though drummer Lutz Oldemeier is the only remaining member from their eponymous 1970 release. The keyboardist, Dieter Miekautsch, was in Missing Link, and I don't know who the other guys are. Anyway this is some solid jazzy rock, cool and funky. GoD release, with four bonus tracks.

My Solid Ground - SWF Session (1971) + New Album (2001)

Four tracks broadcast on SWF radio in 1971, a couple months after their album was finished. Same line-up as on the album, led by 17 year old guitarist Bernhard Rendel. The music is very similar to what's on the album. The "New Album" was recorded by Bernhard Rendel in his home studio in 2001, and the music is very good, but different from the old material. I guess it would have to be, he's not a kid anymore! Great spacy/psychedelic stuff with Rendel taking all the parts - he did an awesome job.

Popol Vuh - Seligpreisung (1973)

The fourth album from Popol Vuh begins the era that most people consider their best. This is due in no small part to the addition of ex Amon Düüll II member Daniel Fichelscher who does most of the percussion and plays guitar too. This is some very atmospheric stuff, mellow and beautiful.

Shawn Phillips - Contribution + Second Contribution (1970 - 1971)

"Shawn Phillips' first major album, recorded in 1968 with help from the members of Traffic, among others, is a condensation of a far more ambitious studio original that was intended to fill three LPs. The range of sounds on this record is shockingly diverse, from breezy folk-rock ("Man Hole Covered Wagon") to pieces incorporating classical guitar and phantasmagoric lyrics ("L Ballade" finds Phillips' at his most Donovan-like, but with a better voice), and, in between, bouncy throwaways ("Not Quite Nonsense"), bejeweled sitar-ornamented pieces ("Withered Roses"), and topical songs ("For RFK, JFK and MLK"). If Contribution had come out in 1968 when it was recorded, it probably would have been lost in the shuffle of ambient psychedelia; as it was, it was so quiet and different from the noise of most of what was released in 1970 that critics took notice. Not all of it works, though, and Phillips' later music had a weightier sound, but Contribution is a superb debut, mixing progressive rock and folk sounds in a manner unique to its time. Still Life - Still Life (1970)

Still Life were an obscure English foursome who toured a lot with the Edgar Broughton Band, and were kinda their protégés. The music is early 70's proto-prog, completely organ-drenched with great bass lines and weird lyrics. A very enjoyable album.
